She Does Not Eat The Bread of Idleness

This journey has been quite interesting so far. I started in August (my dates are off because I began on a different blog before landing here) and now, two months later, I want to see how I have done. So this week I will review the past several weeks. At this time I will also be adding links and adjusting what I have already written.

So, we started with Proverbs 31:28:

She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.

I have to admit, at the beginning of this journey I had high hopes and thought I would do better than I did. For a while I did not do much. But, recently I feel like I have finally started this journey properly, I am now practicing more of this stuff that I wrote about in the beginning.

Eating elephants, frogs and actually reading my to do lists. Its coming. Slowly, but it’s coming.

The Smell of Success

Its happening. I can see it. Its not a light at the end of a tunnel, its a path to victory! This past week I have had the wonderful experience of having a clean house and keeping it that way.

I hate being in an messy house. I can’t stand clutter. But I have always been either too lazy or too busy to do anything about it. This past week I had company over, which forced me to get my house clean. I picked up all my piles, I swept those floors (for some reason this is my most procrastinated chore), I put away that pile of clean clothes…and it felt good.

So every day this past week I have come home and ate my frog, I kept up on it, as well as continued to work towards a deeper clean house. And I can feel myself building momentum. Today at work, its friday mind you, I cleaned my desk off really well before I left for the weekend. Really well meaning all the knick knacks that were starting to look more like clutter than cute items went away. I also organized my to do list so that next week I just need to read it. That felt great because I realized how many items I had accomplished this week and forgotten to check off.

This week my posts have been all about budgeting. I have a budget, I have financial goals, but my goal this week is to get my budget up to date (I am a few weeks behind) and keep at it weekly. I have a simple enough budget that I do not need to look at it more than once a week but lately I haven’t even been doing that. So now that I have momentum building in the house work area, lets apply some of that free time to the budget!

How To Eat An Elephant

Who can find a virtuous woman? Her price is far above rubies
Proverbs 31:10

How many times do you begin browsing social media site only to end up 2 hours and 37 clicks later in a completely different area? This happened to me last week. I started off on Pinterest and at the end of my journey I had a new blog idea and a plan for the next year!

Proverbs 31 is a lifelong journey, but I do have some short term goals that I hope to accomplish and incorporate into my daily habits. However, even short term goals can be overwhelming at times. So I will be focusing on small pieces every week.

I will share resources that I am going through as I walk this journey along the way. Currently one very good resource is an ebook called One Bite At A Time, which was the main inspiration for this blog.

So lets grab a knife and a fork and get started on that elephant!
