Becoming Trustworthy

Leviticus 19:1620121231-103818.jpg

Our first week’s challenge is coming to an end! I hope you had a wonderful week of applying what we are learning! The following are Scriptures that deal with being trustworthy or, in light of this week’s challenge, our speech.

Proverbs 11:13 A talebearer reveals secrets,
But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.

Proverbs 29:11 A fool vents all his feelings,
But a wise man holds them back.

Luke 6:43-45 “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Colossians 3:8-11 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

James 4:11-12 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?

1 Peter 4:8-11 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

How do you explain yourself in a short paragraph. What should I talk about? My love for Jesus? The fact that I am fascinated with tea and all that comes along with it? Should I explain that I am single? How do I capture my life in such a brief moment and still make it sound interesting?

  1. The challenge this week for me was difficult because I kept forgetting! I wanted to practice this in the little things so that I could know that I would be more reliable for the important things. But it is hard to remember the little things. But it was fun to keep it in mind and to check myself when I would find myself relaying something. I would stop and think, “is this ok to share?” Which is always a good habit.
